After months of hearing from people running for all different offices, the day has arrived…Election Day! Almost all of us are ready to move on as there have been countless commercials on radio, television and newspapers along with way to much commentary on social media.
Needless to say, the sun will come up on November 9th. We as a country are strong, there will be those who will be exstatic and others will be at a loss of how their candidate came close, but just a little short. In Kansas, a lot of the focus has been on judicial retention and we will continue to function, regardless of what the outcome is.
I am one of the fortunate ones which did not draw an opponent in this election, but I did not take that for granted. Over the summer we still attended numerous meetings, parades and forums and traveled several thousand miles to have conversations with folks in the 110th District.
While many elections are hard fought, the real work begins once the votes are counted, the actual legislating. We have many issues that will be addressed and some tough votes will take place regarding the budget, taxes, schools, roads. This will take a team effort of the citizens of Kansas and the legislators, we must communicate and be willing to listen to each other to come up with a solution which will be successful.
I thank you for the opportunity to serve you everyday and will continue to work for western Kansas.
